Polyester Draw Textured Yarn (DTY)

What is DTY

Polyester Drawn Textured Yarn popularly known as Polyester DTY yarn is manufactured by processing Polyester POY. This process involves hot drawing, twisting, thermosetting and de-twisting. The yarn gets its texture by twisting and drawing it at the same time using heat. A variety of heating techniques can be used to make the yarn set for specific use. DTY can be provided with different levels of intermingling as per the requirements of downstream machines and applications. It can be Non-Intermingle (NIM), Semi-Intermingle (SIM) having or High-Intermingle (HIM). These knots are created by usage of specific intermingling nozzles and subjecting yarn to get desired intermingling pressure.

DTY yarn is majorly used in weaving & knitting of fabrics for making clothes, home furnishings, seat covers, bags and more. DTY yarn can be in Semi Dull or Bright or Trilobal Bright depending upon the type of sections of filaments. To obtain Polyester DTY yarn in various colors, the dope dyed technology or conventional dyeing technology is used. Dope dyed DTY is generally packed on paper bobbins while Raw White DTY used for dyeing is loosely packed on perforated plastic tube so that all the yarn can be easily dyed when the bobbin is dipped in color.
