Air texturing yarn process | Devika Fibres

Air textured yarn is very bulky and has permanent crimps and loops. The interlacing of filaments in the jet can cause the loops to become locked into the yarn, making twisting unnecessary. The important characteristics of air jet textured yarns include loop frequency, loop dimensions, loop stability and physical bulk. ATY yarns are made from POY. ATY is a yarn with multiple small loops, which give it a unique feel and look. They can be used in a variety of fabrics, from simple lightweight scrim to very heavy duty soft luggage fabrics, and from lightweight swimwear to heavyweights.

Air Textured Yarn Manufacturers

Yarns created by the air-jet texturing closely simulate spun yarn structures. While the bulkiness of the stretch yarns decreases with the degree of the tension imposed on them, the form of air textured yarns can be made to remain virtually unchanged at loads corresponding to those normally imposed in fabric production and during wear. This is because of the locked-in entangled loop structure assigned to air jet textured yarns.

The air-jet texturing process is the most versatile of all the yarn texturing methods because it can blend filaments together during processing. Air Jet Texturing process is a mechanical method that uses a cold air stream to produce bulked yarns of low extensibility. The air-textured yarns look like spun yarns in their appearance and physical characteristics.

Air Textured Yarn

The air-textured line manufactured by Devika Fibres is of superior quality, which represents how a blend of unique yarns can be combined to provide a wide range of thickness and functions. At Devika Fibres, ALIDHARA and HIMSON machines are used for the ATY process.

The process flowchart of the Air Texturing Process undertaken at our premises has been given below:

1) Creels made of raw material (polyester or nylon)

2) Primary draw heater—hotpin

3) Drawing /stretching

4) Core and effect – over feed

5) Mechanical slub / air slub

6) Jet box – (air texturing with highly compressed air and water)

7) Setting the heater

8) Application of antistatic oil

9) Take up the winding of aty spool

10) Doffing

11) Proceed to the checking table.

12) Physical inspection by a trained yarn inspector

13) Grading according to norms

14) Each spool is cleaned with a special liquid to free it from dust and stains.

15) Wrapping in a plastic bag

16) Packing into a box

17) After strapping, transfer onto a pallet

18) Pallets are transported to a storage area

19) Pallet is moved to the container gate for stuffing.
