Types of Polyester Yarn
There are three types of polyester yarn.
Polyester filament yarns
Polyester Filament Yarns are made up of PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate). These are strong fibers that may be utilized in multifilament and monofilament applications. PFY is used to manufacture lightweight textiles like organdie and voile, and the ordinary tenacity PFY is used to make undergarments. In contrast, the low determination PFY is used to make tunics and shirts.
Spun yarns
Spun yarn is the most popularly used yarn. This is created by the spinning process of PCDT or cut PET. The spun yarn has a bulky and crimped look, but it looks smooth and lean under tension. These yarns are spun in a course higher than the 16 tex count range. It is used for knitting and weaving purposes.
Textured yarns
PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) multifilaments are used to create Textured yarn. It is produced by twisting and drawing polyester POY (Polyester Partially Oriented Yarn). That is how yarns develop stretch and bulk by processing. The textured yarns have a sheen and smooth texture.
There are two types of textured yarns
Air-textured Yarn(ATY)
Spun-like yarn is another name for ATY. Polyester Filament ATY is a lightweight, wear-resistant, cleanable, and quick-drying polyester filament. ATY Yarn can offer an entirely different look and hand to any fabric. It can be used in various materials, from simple, lightweight fabric to heavy-duty soft luggage fabric.
