Yarn and Fibre Tensile Testing

Yarn and Fibre Tensile Testing

The tensile strength of any material is its resistance to breaking under tension. In the context of fibres and yarns specifically, testing the tensile is necessary to ensure productivity and an accurate production environment.

By understanding and accurately pinpointing the tensile strength, much of the breakage and halts during the production process can be easily avoided. Any fibre or yarn has its durability and capacity beyond which it can break, causing halts in further production.

To find the tensile strength of a fibre, it has to be tested with a specific type of clamp and a proper load cell. This test provides the most accurate tensile strength dynamics. There can be a variety of options in the two essential types of testing equipment; for yarn and fibre testing, a special type must be used.

Ordinary testing clamps and load cells may not give as much efficiency as the specially made-for-yarn and fibre ones, as the fibre is very thin and delicate to handle and test. This method is used to test single filaments, staple yarns, DTY Yarn, Air Textured Yarn and more.

You can operate the grip using the pneumatic footswitch for hands-free operation. It’s easy to conduct the testing and monitor the results without slowing or stopping the normal level of production. It provides feasibility and makes the process smooth. Conduct tensile testing for yarn and thread to know their optimum uses and strengths. Then compare your results to your company’s production standards, and make adjustments as necessary.

When you use high-quality tensile testing equipment, it’s easier and more effortless to make agile adjustments that keep your production facility running efficiently.

Testing of ATY and DTY yarns is usually done in this manner for instant result and check.

Air Textured yarn as the name suggests is made by interlacing the filaments with the help of an air jet to fix the loops of yarn. This gives the yarn particular crimps, loops and texture.

Drawn Textured yarn usually does not have any texture unless one is rendered with various processes. DTY is majorly used in the knitting and weaving of fabric for clothing, bags and home furnishing.
